Fun Photo Friday - Tybee Island

Here are some pictures taken by me and my friend Sarah at the beach last weekend. They are raw and unedited and may look grainy because I think DropShots is messing with them (I swear they aren't grainy).

Check Ups

Adam & Sara had their yearly check ups this morning. Both of them love going to the doctor. Adam asked for a sucker before we even got in the door. I had to drag them out of the waiting room because they were sucked into Finding Nemo.

Adam weighed in at 28 1/2 lbs and is 36 1/4" tall. He is in the 25th percentile for both, very proportionate, just small for his age.

Sara weighed in at 26 1/2 lbs and is 34 1/4" tall. She may weigh less than Adam but she has a bigger belly. His extra 2 inches in height gives him the 2lb advantage over her.

They are both doing well developmentally. While I took Adam to the bathroom, the doctor stayed in the room to play with Sara. I came back in to see her stacking blocks. Her tower was pretty straight for a 2 yr old. Adam was then asked to copy what the doctor was doing, in regards to the blocks. He did just what he was asked and he even grasped a 4 yr old concept.

Adam was in need of 5 immunizations but Miss Jamicka didn't want to give him more than 4 so she gave him the Pediarix which is a three in one deal. He did outstandingly well and was rewarded with a sticker and a sucker. So far he has done really well... no reactions, no fever, no pain.

I told our doctor and the nurses that we would only be back one more time... on the 16th for Lexi's checkup... since we will be moving. They were all sad. We have been going there since just after Sara was born. They have been great with us and it will be sad leaving, hopefully we have just as good of an experience after we move.

What's For Dinner Wednesday?

Well since someone forgot to take out the chicken, I can't make the crockpot Italian chicken I had planned on making for dinner tonight. So instead, it will be something simple and easy like spaghetti and garlic toast. Either that or any leftovers that are still in the fridge. We have been eating food from Sunday all week, for lunch and dinner. It is finally just about gone.

Notes From The Gifted Teacher

These notes are far and few between. (Is that even the saying?) Anyway, this teacher NEVER sends home notes and when she does, they are so vague the parents do not even know what she is talking about. The last incident involved a student project that only 3 students turned in (one of them was Lexi) and apparently they were all wrong. She insisted that all the students took home an instruction sheet but of three parents that I talked to, none of them received one. I asked Lexi what she was working on in class and we went off that. She must have done the wrong holiday or something because from what I understood we had all the elements that the rubric indicated for full credit. Again, I digress.

This morning Lexi told me to find her pants from yesterday because there was a note in her pocket. Why it wasn't in her folder was beyond me. I went in search of said note but her pockets were empty. I then found it on the floor next to the dirty laundry pile. Note reads:

Lexi - Pictures
Bacon Park Dump Site
Not open Mondays and Tuesdays
Several pictures

First of all. I am not a mind reader. I had to ask Lexi what that was supposed to mean. She says we are supposed to go to the Bacon Park Dump Site so she can take pictures. And when are we supposed to do this? And when do they need turned in by? And how am I expected to drop everything to go to a dump site? Second of all, are you freakin' kidding me. I have a husband that is away at school right now and 4 other kids. Unless I pay a babysitter $10 an hour to watch my kids while I go to the freakin' dump, there is no way this is happening. Ok, so I suppose I could get a friend to watch them for free, but I shouldn't have to rely on someone else just so Lexi can get her homework done. And I could take all the kids to the dump site, but that just isn't my cup of tea. I am not one of those moms that can take her many kids on adventures to educational places like museums and dumps. If I was, I would homeschool.

So am I being a little too over dramatic with this? I mean, should I really be expected to take her to the dump to get pictures for a school project or whatever it is? Cause really, I don't even know why the hell she needs to do this. And, like I said... I am not a mind reader. I can't be expected to decipher notes sent home in my child's pocket, can I?

FREE GRAND SLAM BREAKFAST!!!

Yes, you read that right and if you had watched the Super Bowl commercials then you would have known that.

Tomorrow from 6am - 2pm, Denny's is offering a FREE Grand Slam Breakfast to everyone in America while they last. (I really don't see them running out of their essential breakfast items, but that is just me). So if you are wanting something for free, take a trip on over to your local Denny's and hope it isn't too crowded.

I think we might drive by after taking the kids to school and try and get some free breakfast.

Kadie Goes to School

I signed Kadie up for preschool three half days a week and today was her first day. We went a couple weeks ago to see if she would like it and she did. She wanted to stay when we had to leave. She talked about it for a week so I made the plunge and the dip in our bank account to get her signed up.



Ever since that day she has talked about going to school by herself. She would say "Am I going to school tomorrow?" and I would have to tell her no, not for another few days. We went and got her supplies she needed and the talking continued. She could not wait to start school.



I woke her up at 730 this morning (she usually gets to sleep in) and she got up without a hassle. I got her dressed, took some pictures and she ate breakfast. We got the kids off to school about 850 and then I had to drive back by the house because I forgot her shot records. Then we were on our way.



We got to the school just before 915. Guess I need to leave a little earlier (and not forget anything for school). She was uncharacteristically outgoing as we walked into the school. She led the way all the way to the classroom and then it happened. She tensed up... she clung to my leg... and I had to push her into the room. (Maybe it's a crowd thing, maybe she doesn't like big groups of people, she used to do this at playgroup too, hmmm). We talked to a couple teachers, both named Miss Melanie, and Kadie didn't want to talk or leave my side. We got her things in her cubby and her lunch with the other lunches and she even opted to put Ella (her baby doll) in her cubby (which surprised the heck out of me).



All the kids were making their way to the rug for music time and Kadie did not want to go. She did detach herself from my side and went to the puzzle table where Adam & Sara were playing but she did not want to go with the other kids. Miss Melanie finally said, "I can take her whenever you are ready." So I gave Kadie a hug (one from me and a tighter one from daddy) and told her I would be back at 1 to get her. Miss Melanie took her and I took the babies and left. I looked back as I walked out the door and saw her with her hands still up by her face but she never cried.



I hope her day goes better than her morning went. I felt a little bad just leaving her but I know it is for her own good. The whole point of her going to school now is so she can come out of her shell and not freak out every time I am not around. I can't wait to hear about her day.

When I picked her up she was all ready to go. She had her hat and jacket on with her backpack on her back, lined up at the door. She was too cute and all smiles. Miss Melanie said she did great. She was really quiet but she couldn't wait to see her back on Wednesday. I asked Kadie what she did today. She said she played with the sand table, swang on the swings outside and ate her lunch. Miss Melanie put her hair in a ponytail and when she was swinging she saw Chuck E. Cheese's. Other than that she didn't offer up any more information. She didn't bring home any coloring sheets and she says she didn't make any friends. She did say she had a lot of fun and wanted to go back.

She also yelled at me...

"What took you so long?"

Apparently I wasn't back soon enough, or she waited too long after putting her jacket on. Who knows?! She is now lying on the couch watching Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! I'm hoping she falls asleep from all the fun she had today.

Movie Review Monday - Current Favorites

I didn't really watch anything this week but I did watch most of Matilda (and have seen it before) and I listened to Peter Pan Return to Neverland in the car for the last week straight. My kids love that movie and don't want me to send it back to Netflix. I might just have to report it missing LoL

Matilda - Starring Danny DeVito, Rhea Pearlman and Mara Wilson. Mara Wilson plays Matilda, a very bright and gifted child that is born into the worst family ever. Her parents leave her alone all day, don't listen to anything she says and her brother is just rotten to her. She finally gets to go to school and meets a teacher that has her best interests at heart and an evil principal that only wants to make her life more miserable. A fun movie for the whole family. It has something for everyone. My kids fought me when I suggested putting it on but as soon as they started watching they were glued to the tv. They LOVED it! The dancing, the music, the antics, the suspense... everything had them completely in love with this movie. I am so glad someone bought this for them for Christmas. Such a great movie.

Peter Pan: Return to Neverland - Wendy is all grown up and her daughter Jane is kidnapped by Captain Hook. Peter Pan has to save her. Jane doesn't believe in fairies which causes a problem for Tink, so the lost boys have to make her believe. I didn't actually get to watch this but my kids love it. They will watch it 24/7/365 if I let them. There are some hilarious parts... just from listening to the movie and I am sure I would love it as much as the kids do if I just had a chance to sit and watch it. If you like the original Peter Pan, you will love this one. Hook has some hilarious lines in this one. Check it out, you won't regret it.
