Movie Reviews

I watched three movies in the last couple of weeks. We Are Marshall was really good... so was Ocean's Thirteen. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom was crazy. I'm still in awe that they rated those movies PG.

We Are Marshall: True story... not based on a true story... an actual TRUE story. Heart wrenching the entire movie, from start to finish. Very, very emotional. A football team, along with coaches and some others are killed in a plane crash after a football game out of town. Leaving behind only a few players, Marshall University has to get approval to play their only available team of freshmen. With little hope of actually being able to compete with the other schools they go on to honor their fallen teammates. I loved the dynamics in this movie... I feel for all those people that actually lived through that time when football was everything.

Ocean's Thirteen: Ocean and his team take on a casino tycoon. With an elaborate plan aimed at destroying the man and not stealing his money it is unlike the other two. Great finale in the series. George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and all the others were outstanding as usual.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom: In search of a stone that was stolen from a village and all of their children, Jones, his little kid friend "Short Round" and a tag-a-long woman encounter a possessed bunch of crazies. It was really out there. A man gets his heart ripped from his chest... they eat monkey brains straight from the monkey's skull. It was rather disgusting. Not very graphic, which is a good thing but definitely worth a PG-13 rating, not the casual PG that it was given. Harrison Ford played Jones very well and all in all it was a decent movie. Kadie and Jacob watched it but I did cover their eyes for the gross parts. They did not have nightmares but are very aware of the difference in real and pretend.
