Fun Photo Friday - A Sea World Thanksgiving

I started this blog the day after thanksgiving but never got the pictures posted... hope I can decide which pics to post without posting all of them. LoL

Instead of doing the traditional turkey dinner at home, we decided to do something different this year and head down to Sea World. Since the military gets in free once a year we thought now was as good of a time as any. And seeing as all our family is up north (save for a couple relatives) we saw no reason we had to stay home.

The kids had a great time and even though they cried and complained about what they didn't get half the day, I know they still love us for taking them and maybe even slightly appreciate us.

I took so many pictures yesterday, but here are a select few... well, a little more than a few, and they posted backwards, I hate that!

Black Friday

I went made the choice to brave the stores and the cold starting at 430 this morning after not getting home until almost midnight last night from Sea World. I wasn't planning shopping this morning but my friend wanted to go and I'm a sucker for a bargain.

She picked me up at 430 and we headed to this place called Movie Stop for super cheap movies. We drove by the masses at Circuit City to have no one waiting at the movie store (which we figured) so we waited warmly in the car. I went in search of Polar Express since it was advertised at only $1.99 and House was 50% off. House wasn't as cheap as it was at Target so I passed on that one. I ended up spending $20 and some change for 6 movies (Polar Express, Jarhead, World Trade Center, Cellular, Lizzie McQuire Movie, & Lemony Snickets A Series of Unfortunate Events). Not too shabby.

Sitting in the turn lane I convinced my friend to go straight when the light changed so I could stop at Penney's for my free snowglobe (no purchase necessary). We got the 2007 one last year for Lexi, so I had to get this one too. I know she will love it. I think that puts her collection up over 30 now.

After that we drove by Office Depot. My friend wanted a laptop that was an excellent deal but there were 60+ people already waiting in line so she opted to fore go that deal. The line was crazy long and there were people sleeping in camping chairs and one person even camped out in a tent. Funny thing is he wasn't even the first in line, he was like THIRD! I'm not sure there is anything worth camping out in front of a store for.

We then stopped at Starbucks to get breakfast and a hot drink to keep us warm. That proved to be needed as we got to Target and the line was all the way to the mall entrance (a far stretch). We didn't stand in that line long because we figured we were already way back that it didn't matter if we went to another store to look around. So we went to AC Moore to see what kinds of deals they had. They had Thomas the Tank Engine stuff buy one get one free but they were still too expensive for my friend's taste so we skipped that and went to stand in the line that was at the mall entrance of Target. It was already after opening time and we saw the outside line was already moving so we got back in that line and went in with all the craziness. This guy came running up behind us with his wife and kids and started yelling at people to get to the end of the line cause he thought they were gonna cut (they were waiting for the line to end so they could go in after but the line was pretty much never ending). We headed straight for the outdoor/bikes/etc area so I could get a Razor A scooter for Jacob. Grabbed one of those and headed to the toy section to check out the Fly Fusion Pen. Got one of those for $29 (regular $80) plus a journal and two "games" to go with it. I think Lexi will like it. I got stuck in a cart jam since I was standing by electronics and I heard crazy guy again. This time he was telling his son that there was no sale good enough to make him forget about him (I'm guessing they got separated or something). I made my way out of the chaos and found my friend looking at Thomas stuff. We went to check out before the lines got crazy so we could go over to Bass Pro Shop so my friend could get her husband some thermal underwear that was super cheap.

We asked a lady where we could find them and she directed us downstairs. Not finding them we searched for another employee. That was harder than one would imagine being Black Friday. I went in search one way, and my friend went the other way. Finally found the underroos within minutes of each other and got in the longest short line in history. This lady apparently grabbed the wrong item and we had to wait for her to get the right one.

We walked out into the mall and hit up Gymboree for some killer sales. Their outerwear was $14 but they barely had anything left that didn't sell at full price... nothing in my kids' sizes. They also had fleece hoodies for $12 plus an extra 30% off so they came out to $8.50 a piece (the ones in the Walmart ad were $8 and these are much higher quality, so great deal there). I could have spent way more there than I did but I was a good girl. I stuck to 5 fleece hoodies and two hair accessories to put me over $50 so I could get some more Gymbucks (love those things)!

After Gymboree we went back over to Target so I could look at the movies that I forgot about earlier. I got 3 seasons of House for less than the price of ONE! I also got 27 Dresses, Iron Man and Happy Feet for relatively cheap. We stood in line for a long time this time. We were going to wait at the Jewelry counter but that line was super long... so we went to the express lanes. I wouldn't have had to wait as long if people didn't keep cutting. The way their lines are set up you have to wait in 1 line but people were just walking and jumping up when they saw an open register before those of us waiting in line could even budge. I wasn't in a hurry or anything and the line moved pretty quickly anyways so it was alright, but still... very rude, people! We finally left Target and headed over to Kmart to see if they had any tool sets left. No such luck, but I did pick up some laundry detergent and Carmex lip balm while we were there. We then went over to the store that bought out Kmart, and my place of employment...

Upon arriving to Sears we noticed there was NO WHERE to park. When I say no where, I don't just mean those spots out in the middle of no where... I really mean, NO.FREAKING.PARKING.SPOTS. People were even parking in the grass along the side of the road. There was no where in creation to park that wouldn't get us a ticket I made the decision to go on home. I had just wanted to look at the tools that I thought were on sale tomorrow too... turns out the one I wanted was a door buster and I should have just ran in and checked while my friend circled the parking lot. Oh well... I will see what they have tomorrow before I go in to work.

I got home and stayed awake as long as I could. I ended up taking a cap nap in the recliner because I just couldn't keep my eyes open. I then fed the kids lunch and John and I watched Fool's Gold (watch for that review come Monday). I never got to the grocery store like I wanted. Guess it will have to wait til tomorrow morning or something.

After the movie we got the kids ready to head out with the intention of grocery shopping. However, we spent way too much time in Target. Yup, I dragged all 5 kids and a reluctant husband into Target on the day after Thanksgiving. It wasn't as bad as earlier, except the parking lot was much fuller. I printed off my sister-in-law's baby registry and got her a couple things. Lexi picked up a gift for her friend's brother's birthday party next weekend and also a Christmas gift for her friend. John found some cd's he wanted to get and I restocked our diaper supply. All in all today I spent a grand total of just under $300 at Target... saving almost as much.

We left there about 5 and the kids were getting hungry so instead of going grocery shopping with 5 hungry heathens we headed home. I had John stop at Walgreen's on the way so I could pick up some BOG2 (buy one get TWO) wrapping paper and some raspberry iced tea. I left there with 9 rolls of wrapping paper, a 5 pack of scotch tape, a 100 pack of self adhesive gift tags and 4 cans of iced tea for just over $15 including tax.

I saved so much money today it is crazy. Granted I could have saved lots more if I had just stayed home but come on, where is the fun in that! I think I might do all my shopping on Black Friday next year... want to come honey?! HAHAHAHA!

The Best Christmas Present

Lexi spends every weekend with her friend Ashley and they are always going somewhere... the mall, church, the park, etc etc etc. It never fails that she comes home with something that Miss Bonnie has bought for her. Last week it was a $9 coloring book... yah, she is C-R-A-Z-Y!!!

Anyway, yesterday was no different. Lexi came home with something and asked John where she could put it so I wouldn't see it. Apparently John thought she said where I would see it, so he told her on the kitchen counter. So she did.

I got home around 10 after working and grabbing dinner at Carrabba's with friends from work. I walked right to the kitchen to put the cookies I had made to take to work back on the counter when I saw it. I freaked out!!! I believe the words that came out of my mouth were... "NO FRICKIN' WAY!!!"

I grabbed it and ran out into the living room just in utter shock. I could not believe what I was seeing. After 7 years, Lexi finally did it again...

SHE SAT IN SANTA'S LAP!!!! OMG You do not even know how excited I was to see that. She has not sat on Santa's lap in 7 years. The last time she did was when she was 11 mths old. The next year I had to sit with her while Santa held Jacob. The following year, I'm not even sure we did Santa, but we did do the Easter Bunny and she would NOT go near him. Any other time we have gone to see Santa she has kept her distance, she wouldn't even go up with me. Needless to say this was a super duper proud mommy moment and I am kind of sad I wasn't there. I am glad, however, that Bonnie was sweet enough to get some pictures for me.

Lexi came out of the bedroom after much commotion from me saying she couldn't sleep cause I was being too loud. Oops. I told her I loved the picture of her with Santa and she stomped her foot and said "UGH!" She wanted to save it for me for Christmas... I told her I thought it was the best Christmas present ever! (I also assured her I would be quieter so she could get back to sleep).

I think I might blow up one of the pictures into a 20x24, frame it on my wall and put "Lexi FINALLY conquered her fear after 7 years!!!!" Think that is a little too much and do you think John would go for that? LoL

Movie Review Monday

I have had the Manchurian Candidate for quite some time and John and I decided to sit down and watch it last week. I must say that I went to bed wondering WTH?! I was still pretty confused at the end.

The Manchurian Candidate - Denzel Washington and Liev Schreiber play two war heroes that were taken captive in the Persian Gulf War. After returning they begin to rebel. Neither were supposed to remember what happened to them but after talking to another member from his former unit, Marco (the character played by Washington) starts to remember the same things that his war buddy was describing. Remembering what happened to him and Shaw (Schreiber's character) he sets out to put a stop to this before Shaw becomes a brainwashed president.

The whole thing was a bit confusing as it jumped back and forth between the present and the future. The pieces began to fall together mid movie and from then on it was semi-predictable but still kept me wondering. On a 5 pt scale, I give this movie a 2 1/2... a 2 on Netflix is "didn't like it" where as a 3 is "liked it" and I was kind of on the fence. Not sure I would watch it again, but definitely worth checking out if you like psychological thrillers.

Fun Photo Friday - Pop Goes the Wiggles!

On Tuesday I took the three youngest to see the Wiggles Live! It was a lot of fun (aside from the fact that it started at 630, I didn't get downtown until 645 and I didn't find a parking spot and get in there until 7). The kids really enjoyed it for never really watching the Wiggles. I would have taken the whole family except John didn't want to go and tickets were $41 a pop, plus that is also Lexi's tumbling night. Anyways, all good time was had by all and I really liked our seats. The kids were contained, yet free to get up and down, you know? Hope you enjoy the pictures that do not do this show any justice at all!

The Wiggles
The Mamas

Wyatt enjoying the show
Kadie watching intently
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
Adam making stars in the sky
They seemed pretty content with the show
Fruit Salad, Yummy Yummy
BUCKEYE!!! No, that's Wags, Sara!
She loved it when Wags came out, can't you tell!
THE END!

Savannah Recycles!

It has happened! The city of Savannah has finally added recycling bins at the curb to encourage more residents to recycle. I have already set aside two recyclable items since getting home at 1245. I see this being a huge success, in our house and for the whole city. Way to go, city officials!

I am reading up on the FAQs of the curbside recycling and it will be a twice monthly pick up on the same day as your trash day. Curbside pickup with officially begin January 5th 2009. So, Savannah, start separating your recyclables from your trash and help make Savannah and the rest of the planet a better place. You CAN make a difference!

Chopped Liver

Apparently that is what I have become. I will be living in Savannah until June of next year with no friends left after the end of the year. Such is my life, right?

The Ring Test: Part 2

I asked the hubby if he read my previous post about the ring test. He said he did and he thought I was crazy. Of course he doesn't want anymore kids and I am not particularly fond of the end result of the pregnancy but still, the ring says we are supposed to have another boy.

He just looked at me with that "you-are-crazy-but-I-still-love-you-and-I-might-just-have-to-kill-you-if-you-jinx-us-into-another-pregnancy" look. So I wanted to prove it to him that I was not making stuff up, that the ring had spoken. I took off my necklace and dropped my anniversary band into place. I hung it still over my belly and it started to circle. Every bone in my body knew I would be proven wrong... I always am... but much to my surprise (and John's disdain) the ring did the SAME. EXACT. THING. as the first time. OMG! I was beside myself that it actually did the same thing... and John, I think, wanted to strangle me right then and there.

Not quite sure but I think he is a bit intimidated by the ring test. He may just be a believer.

Movie Review Monday - Hmmm

I'm sitting here trying to remember if I have seen any movies in the last week and no, I don't think so. I had to send back The Manchurian Candidate because it was cracked. I also sent back Happily N'ever After (that I never got to watch) since I finally found it. I never watched Secret Window either, just sent it back. Now we have another copy of The Manchurian Candidate, The Spiderwick Chronicles and NCIS Season 5 disc 1. Still, I have not watched anything because I just have not had two hours to be able to. With working and just being a mom to 5 has been taking up all my time. I haven't even been online much in the last week (big improvement from multiple times a day and all day if I could procrastinate long enough and not feel guilty about it). Maybe I can watch a movie today still but no promises... it is already 320 and the big kids will be home from school in about 25 minutes. Hubby should be home by 5 (if all goes well). Adam has his "award ceremony" for soccer at 530 and then Lexi is making up her missed night of tumbling tonight at 7 (if I don't forget LoL). So, we will see. For now you can check out my new blog, You're a Poet and Didn't Know It

On The Radio

John is always bragging about how he got the trivia questions right that they ask in the morning on Kix 96. He seriously is a huge ball of useless knowledge. Remember? He kicked our asses in Trivial Pursuit the other night. Yah... so... I knew it was just a matter of time before he put the crap he knows to some real use. I keep telling him he needs to go on Jeopardy, but he won't.

Anyways, he left for work this morning shortly before 8. He called me at 815 to tell me to turn on the radio. I turn Lexi's radio to the right station and turn it up loud so that I can hear when the song ends and the talking begins. Not two minutes later the song is done and the hosts start talking about movies and the trivia for the day.

Bond movies... more accurately, who played Bond in certain movies. I couldn't tell you what the questions were. I know the first answer was Sean Connery. And the stumper question was a guy that only ever played Bond that ONE time. And as you guessed it... my husband got all three right! They were thoroughly impressed and the kids and I were beaming. They were so excited to hear their dad on the radio. I loved how genuinely excited John was that he actually got through and won since that seems to be the highlight of his day (besides coming home to his drop dead gorgeous wife of course).

Dutch tells him he just won a 4 pack of movie tickets to see Quantum of Solace or any other movie, maybe High School Musical 3. Nancy interjects with "You probably couldn't PAY him to see that." To which John replies, "I already took my kids to see that one." It was really funny.

As soon as he said his name my phone rang again. I knew it wasn't John calling back since that wasn't his ring tone but I had a feeling it was someone that heard him on the radio. It was Lexi's friend's mom calling to see if that was really John on the radio. See honey, I wasn't the only one listening LoL She knew she recognized his voice and when he said he had already taken his kids to see HSM3 she just knew it had to be him... hearing his name just sealed the deal.

John called back as I was talking to her to let me know he would be using one of those tickets to go see Quantum of Solace. I guess we can save the other three and get a couple more tickets with our bank reward points so we can take the kids to see Madagascar 2: Escape to Africa. Or maybe I will tag along for the Bond movie. He would tag along to see a chick flick with me, it would be a well deserved date night. I guess we will see how it plays out.

Oh, and congrats honey! You rocked that trivia! Such a proud wifey moment LoL

My New Baby

Check out my new blog!

http://youre-a-poet.blogspot.com/

The Ring Test

Everyone knows there are tons of old wives tales that you can do to determine the sex of your child when pregnant. Everyone also knows that for a lot of people, these are very accurate. For instance, the Ancient Chinese Birth Gender chart was always spot on for me. It was right every. single. time. and it was right for most of the people I used it on. Granted, you have to know your exact month of conception or it will be wrong. Like, if I were to get pregnant now... I wouldn't know my month of conception since my husband had the big V and I have been having my period semi-regularly.

Anyways, over on The Glamorous Life, Whitney was talking about the ring test and other old wives tales to determine the gender of her baby. It got me thinking about if it would be right for me... so I took off my necklace, threaded my ring onto it and hung it over my belly.

I held it still over my belly and it began to circle. It kept circling for a long while... it didn't stop and start circling again so I am thinking this was representative of my first two girls, Abrielle (my angel baby) and Lexi (my almost 8 yr old). It then switched from circling to swinging, indicating a boy. Then back to circling, then swinging, then circling again. Ta-da! All my kids, in the exact order they were born.

But, wait a minute! What is this? It went back to swinging before coming to a stand still. I know this is all fiddle faddle to some but seriously, I am a bit freaked out. One minute I would love another baby, then the next I'm wonder if someone had slipped something into my drink to make me think that. Everyone always jokes that I need a 6th and that I need a boy to even it up. The joke would really be on me now, huh? Now, I know I am not pregnant now... my husband had a vasectomy a long time ago (although I've heard too many stories of women getting preggo after those) and I have been experiencing that dreadful time of the month, at least every 6 wks (although I have also heard of women still having their periods while preggo too). Holy cow... I think I'm doomed, or blessed, or both! Only time will tell, I guess.

Stay tuned to find out if it's just a freaky hoax or if I really end up pregnant somewhere down the road. :p

What's For Dinner Wednesday?

Not sure why I do this blog on Wednesday when Wednesday is soccer practice night. LoL Anyways, tonight is going to be leftovers from the Pre-Thanksgiving dinner we had yesterday.

A while back I invited all of my playgroup to have a pre-thanksgiving dinner at my house since we are planning on going to SeaWorld on Thanksgiving day. I wanted to do something less traditional but I still wanted to have the dinner.

I didn't do turkey this year since that takes forever and my oven is tiny. I made a spiral sliced ham I got from Kroger though and man was it good. Also on the menu was corn pudding, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, macaroni and cheese, and crescent rolls. For dessert we had chocolate cupcakes and a variety of pudding.

There was so much food for only two families that were here... us, and my friend from down the street. (Love ya, Tiff!) One friend forgot, another friend had some work training (and I think she is leaving us out to dry), another one never got back to me, and another one couldn't make it cause her kids had school yesterday. Oh well, it was fun anyways. We ate dinner, played some Mario Kart (until Adam shut it off on us) and then got our asses kicked by John in Trivial Pursuit Greatest Hits. I forgot all about Lexi's tumbling class last night, so we are gonna have to make that up sometime in the next two weeks. By the time I remembered I had already had a drink, she wasn't ready, it was 10 minutes til 7 and we were in the middle of a Trivial Pursuit. I was going to rush her off but I was reminded of the drink and I didn't think it would be a good idea to be speeding off to cheerleading with alcohol on my breathe.

There was so much food leftover it was crazy but that is where tonight's dinner comes in. We get to have all that yummy goodness all over again. Here are some recipes if you want to try any of the stuff.

Ham - From Kroger's meat section. Throw in a covered baking dish or roaster and bake at 250 degrees for two hours. It was so good I didn't even have to put the glaze on it that came with it.

Corn Pudding - 1 stick of butter, 1 box of Jiffy Corn Muffin mix, 1 egg, 1 can of cream style corn, 1 can of regular corn (drained) and 1 cup of sour cream. Melt butter and coat bottom of 9x13 pan with it. Then mix in all other ingredients. (You can premix them if you like and if you don't have an egg, don't worry, it will survive without it. Much better with the egg though). Spread mixture evenly. Bake for 50 min to an hour at 350 degrees.

Green Bean Casserole - 2 cans of green beans (drained), 1 can of cream of mushroom soup, 1/2 cup of milk, 1 tsp soy sauce, 1/8 tsp pepper, and 1 1/3 cup french fried onions. Mix first 5 ingredients with 2/3 cup of french fried onions. Bake for 25 minutes at 350 degrees. Stir and add the remainder of the onions to the top and bake an additional 5-10 minutes.

Mashed Potatoes (from a box) - Follow directions on the box, add extra butter and seasoned salt to taste (brought by Tiffany, cause I can't do it all LoL)

Mac & Cheese - Oooey gooey Kraft goodness. Yumm! (Tiffany brought this too).

Sweet Potatoes - 1 big can of yams, 1/2 cup brown sugar, a bunch of marshmallows. Drain yams and pour into a microwaveable dish, cover the top with brown sugar (more or less to your satisfaction) and top off with mini marshmallows (or do what i did and break some big ones in half and place beautifully on top). Throw the concoction into the microwave for 6-8 minutes to heat the yams and melt everything else.

Crescent Rolls - Nothing but Pillsbury! Roll and bake to a golden brown. Top with butter!

Pudding (also from a box) - Combine mix with two cups of milk and stir for two minutes, set in fridge for 5 minutes, enjoy!

Cupcakes (also guessing from a box) - Follow the directions, top with some yummy chocolate frosting. Make sure the get the extra moist mix... mmm, so good.

Hope you enjoy these recipes and your own Thanksgiving dinner!!

Movie Review Monday - A CD Instead

Since I haven't watched any movies lately I thought I would partially review the new CD I bought the other day. My hubby has always liked Britney Spears so when I saw her new CD featuring her comeback song "Gimme More" I decided to pick it up for him (and because I wanted to listen to it). He wasn't very impressed and handed it over to me to give a listen to.

I must admit, I have not had the chance to listen to every song on the CD but the first two are definitely my favorites. The majority that I have heard, her voice is altered... kind of like Cher's about 8 yrs ago. It was starting to grate on my nerves a bit. There was actually one song that I had to skip over... I just couldn't stand listening to it.

The first song on the CD is "Gimme More" and it was the song she did at the VMAs. (You can view that on YouTube.) It is a really catchy song and it sounds like she is singing about being a stripper. I have seen the video, also on YouTube, and yup, pretty much seems like the song is about being a stripper. Still like the song though.

The second song is entitled "Piece of Me" and I just love it. It is stuck in my head pretty much 24/7 the last couple of days. I know she didn't write it but damn, it is the perfect song for her. She sings about all the criticism she is subjected to for being "Britney Spears" or basically any celebrity that is being torn apart for every little thing they do. I, by no means, condone everything that Britney has done in the past but that girl needs to be given a break. She is still human, after all. You can find that video on YouTube as well and I think that is a really good video.

As for the rest of the songs on the CD, I can't get into specifics. Like I said, I didn't really listen to the whole CD and I couldn't even tell you the names of the other songs. I suggest finding out if you are gonna like more than two songs off the CD before buying it or you could just upload those two for $1.98 to your Ipod.

Wrong Place, Wrong Time, Wrong Friends

A 25 yr old Ohio woman was arrested today for shoplifting a small bottle of Infant's Tylenol from her local Walmart. A single woman, working in health care, with no children... so why was she stealing the $6 over the counter pain reliever?

She wasn't. Her friends were. She was meeting them for lunch but before they could make it there the three were stopped and held at Walmart for questioning. The three were asked to empty their purses. The 25 yr old not knowing the Tylenol was in her purse denied having done anything wrong. The other two girls had over $600 worth of merchandise in their possession.

The police were called and all three were arrested. The first two were banned from Walmart for their rest of their lives and the other was taken out in handcuffs by a separate officer. She was held down at the station where she was informed she would have to make an appearance in court. It was entirely up to the judge if this offense would become part of her permanent record.

Not wanting anyone to know that she was arrested, she walked from the police station to her house where she switched from sneakers to roller blades to go retrieve her car from the Walmart parking lot. Upon arrival she found her roommate's car parked diagonally from hers and knew she would have to tell her what had happened. (She also called her sister to tell her).

The moral of the story... real friends wouldn't stash stolen goods in your purse without your permission :)

Life is about to get even crazier...

I have officially taken a break from all of my groups so that I can start focusing on the stuff that is coming up. We will be moving in less than two months and Christmas is in like 6wks. We have Thanksgiving before then, plus I've been working all weekend, every weekend. It doesn't leave me much time to get anything done. I have to clean and pack and transfer school records and change doctors and cancel utilities, etc etc etc. I forgot how much work moving was. Before this I never had to change schools either... doesn't sound like much fun especially with all the verification the South Carolina schools want to get your child registered. I have been looking at houses for some time now and it seems every time I find one we like the person never emails us back about it or it gets rented out from underneath us. I don't want to wait too long before acquiring a rental because I don't want to be stuck with nothing good or something too expensive, or in a bad school district... that is my biggest concern.

Anyways, I will still be posting on my blog for anyone that wants to keep up with what is going on. Hopefully I can get things together around here and be back to a normal life come January.

Hurry, hurry, drive the firetruck!!!

As I was getting the kids ready for school, my eye was caught by some flashing red lights outside my window. I looked out to see two firetrucks at the end of my road and the neighbors standing outside. I walked down to the end of my driveway to try and get a better look but there was no smoke. I came back in to finish getting the kids ready so that I could load them into the wagon and walk them to the corner (past all the firetrucks).

As I walked down there I asked Miss Helen what had happened. Apparently as she was getting ready to leave this morning she saw some smoke. She called her daughter and then the smoke got worse so she called Savannah Fire to the rescue. They obviously do not take this kind of thing lightly because on closer inspection there were not only two firetrucks... there were FOUR! And three pickups (like the Chief drives) lining my street and the cross street that leads to the kids' school.

I crossed the street with the kids and started talking to someone else that lives down the street. She was concerned and wanted to see if anyone needed anything since three years ago she was in a similar situation. We could smell the smoke but we couldn't see any from where were standing. It reminded me of the smell that comes from my oven when I am cooking... only WAY stronger. Since there was no major concern the other neighbor went back home to eat breakfast and I came back home with the three little ones.
As of now there are no firetrucks left out there so I can only assume they found the source of the smoke and have gotten it taken care of. I will update later if I run into Miss Helen again.
